About how long do the batteries last?

The battery life of this camera is excellent. The standby battery life is around 30 months. With normal usage and utilizing lithium AA batteries, this camera can last several months to one year in the field while recording images both day and night. Of course, anytime you have extensive night vision images or extensive video with night vision, that battery life can be reduced. A good rule of thumb is several months with lithium AA batteries or good quality alkaline batteries. Check your instruction manual for optimal suggestions on battery life.
Does the cam pickup audio, and how far off can noises be heard?

Yes, this camera records audio while in the video mode. Depending on the setup and volume of the source, sound can be heard up to 30 feet away or more.

H.264 is the industry standard of video compression that delivers the best HD video performance. This camera utilizes this standard and delivers excellent performance as opposed to a sub-standard compression that isn't as smooth. Can this be set up with the standard solar battery DC?

This camera has a 12V DC Input Port on the bottom of the camera. Any external power source that provides 12V and 2A of current should be compatible with this camera. It is also important the plug be the correct polarity with the inside connection positive and the outer connection negative.

Yes, you can adjust with 4 levels of sensitivity--low, normal, high, and auto. Auto uses the temperature sensor to adjust for different times of the year automatically.

What would cause my LCD screen to fade and then get stuck "on", even when the power switch is off?
Answer:
In rare cases, if the battery level suddenly drops off, especially with lithium batteries at the end of battery life, the LCD screen can lock up and the only way to reset it is to remove and replace the batteries.
Can rechargeable aa batteries be used in these models ?
Answer:
We recommend high quality alkaline or lithium AA batteries only. Some rechargeable batteries have a lower voltage to start out with such as 1.2V instead of 1.5V per battery that is needed. This is why we recommend alkaline or lithium. Since our current draw is low the recommended batteries will last for many thousand of images depending on conditions.
Does the unit have a viewing screen to watch the video in the field without another device or cell phone?

Yes. These high powered IR LEDs are some of the latest LED innovations in trail cameras. The Alpha Cam Premium will flash out to 100 feet or more depending on conditions with the 6 high powered LEDs compared to 48 standard LEDs are about equivalent. This of course depends on humidity and amount of foliage in the camera's field of view.
